We have begun to deploy our next generation of Unix desktop systems to early adopters who are testing them. There are four systems deployed at the moment. The new desktops include updated versions of Firefox, Dr. Scheme and many other packages. There are also some new packages like linsmith for smith charts, dia for drawing diagrams of all sorts, several drawing and paint applications. There are new and updated multimedia applications, as well as the most recent versions of OpenOffice, gnumeric and Abiword. If you would like to be an early adopter of the new system and give us your feedback for inclusion in the final system image that will be deployed to replace our outdated NetBSD 2.x desktops please email iscit-staff and let us know you want to join the fun!
